Jillian Mayer’s “I Am Your Grandma” video recently hit 1 million views, congrats! In other great news, Jillian graces the cover of the September issue of Art Papers. There are also a couple fun remixes of the song in the works.
Super stoked to announce the release of ANR’s newest 7″. It will feature “It’s Around You” as the A-Side and “Blood On Blood” as the AA-Side. Many of you are already familiar with “It’s Around You” off of the Stay Kids album and “Blood On Blood” was specifically recorded for this project with Sarab Singh on drums and Ben H. Allen mixing the song. The killer artwork was done by ANR’s John Hancock. Prefix premiered “Blood On Blood” earlier today and you can stream it below. The bands last 7″ sold out pretty fast and we’re doing a limited run of this one with our fine friends over at Neon Gold Records. You can pre-order your copy HERE.
ANR is back! Not that they really went anywhere. But anyways they’ve got a new song for the loving public. It’s called “New Armor” and will be available on the Deluxe Edition of Stay Kids, coming out on September 13 via 10K Islands. You check out some nice words on the song over at Consequence Of Sound or All Things Go. The band will embark on a large scale national tour around the Deluxe Edition and another release (which will be announced next week) that we are super excited for.
We’re happy to welcome visual / performance artist Jillian Mayer to the 10K roster for her “I Am Your Grandma” single release. “I Am Your Grandma” is an autobiographical video diary log (vlog) that Jillian Mayer records for her unborn grandchildren. Is it music video? Is it a comedic short satirizing the weird new breed of pop stars? It is none of these things, however by placing it in the context of YouTube and exposing it to potentially millions of people who would be otherwise averse to video art, Mayer invites these unlikely questions and, oddly enough, fans. The full length song, now available as a download via iTunes, is a musical collaboration with John Hancock of ANR.
Another glowing review is in for the PLAINS album. This time, from Broward/Palm Beach New Times. Music critic Arielle Castillo remarks that “by concentrating on no-frills, shambling rock of the kind best developed in the ’90s, the group actually sounds fresh.” She goes on to say the album is “a diverse collection of songs that’s still well-edited into an opening salvo that’s not just one of the best South Florida debuts of late, but one of the best indie rock efforts this year, full stop.” Not directly because of this review, but in part… PLAINS will be hitting the road playing a few shows on the east coast and in the midwest later this month and into August.
