The fine folks over at Beached Miami have given us the first official review of the PLAINS full-length album – and it’s a good one. The review highlights tracks such as “Innovator”, “Black Feeling” and “Judy” – calling the album,
“A rare combination of technical savvy, good taste, and talent — the humble trinity that early indie rock, post-punk, and grunge-era bands all thrived on.”
They go on to say,
“PLAINS is the rare record sans a skippable song, a collection of intelligent rock… a collection of songs that sound checks many while mimicking none. If PLAINS were released at any point in McGinnis’s career, it would be a major achievement. As a debut, it is astonishing.”
Our sentiments exactly. The album is out July 19th and PLAINS will be playing a few dates supporting the release.
Director (and drummer) extraordinaire Jorge Rubiera stepped behind the camera to shoot the latest video off of the Stay Kids album. The concept was simple enough – you’ve got a song about staying young so let’s get some adorable kids involved with an ANR live performance. Flawless execution. The video premiered over at The Guardian.
It’s great when South Floridians can come together. In this instance, we’ve got ANR remixing the always enjoyable Rachel Goodrich. The guys took on her infectious song “Light Bulb” and added their own LCD-esque production take on it. It premiered over at RCRDLBL.
“Innovator” was originally released as a 7″ via Discosoma Records. That 7″ has sold out and now you can find the track on the forthcoming, self-titled full length available on July 19th via 10K Islands. Above is the video for “Innovator” as cut/edited by the man behind PLAINS – Mike McGinnis. The video popped up on Transparent a while back.
Check out the video for “Big Problem” by ANR from the Stay Kids album. The video was shot by Lucas Levya, part of Miami’s Borscht Film collective. It’s a snapshot from a larger slasher flick which will be released later this summer.
